Frequently Asked Questions:

About Our Assisted Living & Retirement Communities in Midland, MI

1.   What is the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?

Assisted living is great for individuals who may need help with day-to-day activities, but do not need around the clock nursing care. Assisted living communities promote independence and provide care in a social environment that feels like home. Nursing homes are a better option for individuals who need more around the clock care and assistance. Nursing homes offer extensive personal care in a more clinical setting. Choosing between assisted living and a nursing home for your loved one depends on how severe their conditions are.

2. Do you offer hospice care?

Yes, our highest level of care is hospice care. We offer the care and equipment necessary for the end stages of life in a private room. We can assist your loved one in performing all daily activities and offer medical coordination care.

3. What happens if my loved one's condition worsens while in your care?

Here at H Senior Living, we offer 4 levels of care. If the condition of your loved one worsens or they need more assistance with daily activities, we can move them up to the next level of care.

4. Do you offer diabetic care?

Yes, we offer additional care for patients with diabetes at an additional cost of $100 a month. This will provide our residents with additional snacks to keep blood sugar levels normal, daily insulin regimens, monitoring of blood sugar levels, and any other diabetic care they may need.

5. How do you socialize your residents?

We offer group activities and exercise programs to keep our residents active and social! We also offer rooms for couples. H Senior Living can help your loved one meet new friends and improve their quality of life, while still keeping their sense of independence.

6. What are some typical services provided for assisted living?

We help with everything from medication and laundry services to home cooked meals and more. We understand that there are things you would still like to handle on your own, but if you are unable to do certain everyday tasks, we’ll be happy to help. Our stylish rooms are private and semi-private, and we have rooms for couples as well!

7. What training does your staff undertake before working with my loved one?

Each staff member at H Senior Living is thoroughly trained to ensure proper care of your loved one. All of our staff members are competent in reporting requirements, first aid, CPR, personal care supervision and protection, prevention and containment of communicable diseases, diabetic care, fire safety, residents’ rights and more.

8. What do you provide for those in your retirement community?

Our retirement community offers a place where you can socialize, participate in activities, have visitors, and more. The community is barrier-free so you never have to feel confined to your living arrangement. If you’d like to leave overnight, you can do so without worry, and even for extended periods of time if you choose. Although you are given this freedom, we provide 24-hour care so you’ll always have someone there for you when you need assistance.

9. Why should I choose a senior living community?

A senior living community is much more than a place to live in your latter years. It will provide you and your family with peace of mind in knowing that there is someone to take care of you at all times, while still providing the independence you require. If you enjoy a variety of home cooked meals, laundry service and social activities with those your age, a senior living community is for you!
